Ernest and Vera Wolfe
In early 1974 Ernest and Vera Wolfe made a trip to California. While there they visited a retirement center which had facilities that allowed a wide range of living arrangements. Residents who were able could live independently, if they needed an assisted living arrangement such facilities were on site as well as a full service nursing home. When they returned to Oklahoma they offered 90 acres to the Oklahoma Conference of Seventh Day Adventist so a similar facility could be built here. Work began in 1975 with the drilling of a water well and the construction of roads and a duplex. In July of 1976 Mrs. Vaughn Parsons of Woodward, Oklahoma became Summit Ridge's first resident. From this humble beginning Summit Ridge Retirement Village has grown to include the Wolfe Living Center, a full service nursing home, a warm and welcoming church, and 50 homes in which approximately 100 residents now live. Today Summit Ridge Retirement Village has become the ideal place to meet the spiritual and recreational needs of the elderly population.
